All That Is True

  • cd freedom

Alarik's most personal recording is a mix of traditonal and original songs spanning his four-decade career in folk music. He is joined by Boston's best neotrad stars, including Crooked Still, Eric Merrill, Jake Armerding, and fiddler-pianist Hanneke Cassel, who also produced. The 12 tracks include folk classics such as "Colorado Trail," "Fair & Tender Ladies," "Rose of Allendale," and "Pretty Saro," alongside original songs, ranging from early staples like "Carolyna Moon" and "Edith Day;" to topical ballads "Finest Are the First to Go" and "General Johnny;" to recent compositions, such as the intimate title cut, "All That Is True."
